music
Steven Jobe has a BM in Viola Performance from Rhode Island Collage (1982) and an MA in Music History from Ohio State University (1984). He composed the songs for a musical, Walking on Air in 1987, and wrote the libretto and music for an opera, Jeanne d'Arc, produced in Providence, Rhode Island in 1993 and 1997.

Jobe is engaged by the challenge of composing music for dance. "I'm inspired to write music that has a compelling rhythmic idiom, that has, if you will, its own internal combustion engine. Hearing it, you should want to move. The groove should be so deep that it demands physical expression."

The music is scored for a ten piece ensemble -- five strings, four winds and percussion -- and the large-scale instruments. These instruments will be seen and heard intermittently throughout the evening and will play all together in the grand finale.
